My Health Journey
As a marathon runner, mountain biker, skier and life-long health enthusiast who was never overweight, I thought I was doing pretty good until I turned 49 years old. That was in 2009, when I had both hips replaced, was diagnosed with prostate cancer, high cholesterol, blood glucose and blood pressure (170/140).
Of course the first thing the doctors wanted to do was load me up with prescription pills and schedule surgery or radiation for the cancer. Fortunately, prostate cancer is not aggresive, and many people have found success in lifestyle modifications to combat the disease, and I decided to give that a try.
By 2012, I had turned things around by lowering my blood sugar and blood pressure with a low carbohydrate diet and focusing on supplements to help lower inflammation.
In 2017, I thought I was in pretty doing ok with running, swimming and lifting weights. But, I had chronic knee, hip, back and shoulder pains which really limited how much I could run and lift. I was slower, weaker and dealing pain and inflammation, but, I just figured it was a part of aging.
By 2018, at 58-years-old I was back to running a 7 minute mile, lifting heavier weights and carrying more muscle than I had in my 20’s.
The most amazing part is that these improvements came three months of taking frequent doses of sublingual NMN, learning more about proper diet to lower blood glucose levels, and prioritizing sleep.
I have continued taking NMN and NR, and added other NAD+ boosting supplements, so that today I have the same strength and endurance from my 30’s.
I have never taken any steroids, TRT, or prescription drugs, or had any cosmetic surgery.
My approach was succesful for me. Rather than opting for surgery for the prostate cancer, or pills for high blood pressure, pre-diabetes, and cholesterol, lifestyle modifications and supplements have kept me healthy. I am now 63 and am fit, active and healthy.
14 years later I am cancer free, and am so thankful to have my 9 year old son as a result, and can even tag along with him when he trains for cross-country with the defending national champions Mt Diablo Heat!
How the Business Began
I began selling supplements and health products in 2005. I carried and sold over 1500 products online and in my supplement store that was located in Las Vegas (pictured).
And, In 2014, I started taking Nicotinamide Riboside, or NR, and soon after that, Nicotinamide Mononucleotide – known as NMN. I soon found that they were more effective than anything I had ever used before and began selling them both.
Supplements to Support Healthy Aging
In 2015, I decided to close the doors of my Las Vegas store, in order to focus on specializing only in products that were most effective for healthy aging, rather than stocking and selling every supplement under the sun.
I spent most of 2015 devoted to researching, writing and creating products. At the time, I created my own brand of NR, and I soon became the largest seller of NR online, and the top seller on Amazon.
Then in June of 2017, I began selling NMN. By the end of the year, we were the largest seller of NMN worldwide.
My Goal for Others
So many people are struggling with a variety of health problems that are associated with aging. Unfortunately, our medical establishment is trained to treat disease symptoms with drugs, rather than promoting a healthier diet and lifestyle that can prevent illness.
Aging can be a painful process. I watched my dad slowly waste away, getting weaker every day. I always wished I could have done something to help.
I believe that we can take action to improve our quality of life, so that we have many more years to enjoy with family, friends and loved ones.
I’m grateful I am able to create the most bioavailable versions of what I believe are most important for longevity.
I enjoy connecting with customers as I often learn more about health and longevity. You can find me on our subreddit /Renue, so stop by and join in on the conversation!
